アップルは現地時間の12日、新型の「iPhone 5」を発表しました。プレスリリースも出ています。
“iPhone 5 is the most beautiful consumer device that we’ve ever created,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “We’ve packed an amazing amount of innovation and advanced technology into a thin and light, jewel-like device with a stunning 4-inch Retina display, blazing fast A6 chip, ultrafast wireless, even longer battery life; and we think customers are going to love it.”
iPhone 5のハードウェア的な変更点として、注目すべきはディスプレイが対角4インチ(1,136 x 640ピクセル)になったことでしょう。ホーム画面に並ぶアイコンも5段から6段に増えていることからも、その画面の大きさがわかるかと思います。
その他、従来のDockコネクタより小さいLightningコネクタを採用したこと、そして最新の通信規格「LTE」に対応したこと、本体サイズもiPhone 4Sに比べて20%軽く18%薄くなりました。
カラーは従来通り、ブラックとホワイトの2色がラインアップされていますが、背面がツートンカラーになったのが特徴となっています。実機を見てみないと何とも言えませんが、ホワイトの背面部分は、MacBook Airのそれに近いような配色となっているのでしょうか。
日本での発売は2012年9月21日、auとソフトバンクから発売されます。
